on the 01 November 1926. Solemn Profession in Gallarate (Milan) on the
02 February 1937.
Military service 1917 – 1920.
He studied in the Episcopal
Seminary in Brescia, then in the seminary Lombardo in Rome 1920
Graduated in philosophy in the university Rome and theology in the
Gregorian university.
In the year 1928 he was sent
as a Missionary to Albania. In Italy he had been a teacher of philosophy
and Holy scriptures in 1936 – 1938 also in Gallarate. He also was a
rector of the Pontifical seminary of Albania, and Provincial substitute
(depute) in Albania from 1945. He also was an author. He was arrested
together with Fr. Daniel Dajani, on the 31 December 1946 in the night
after singing the “Te Deum” (We praise you o God). He was imprisoned in
Shkodwr and sentenced to death on the 22 February 1946. He was shot and
killed in Shkodër on Monday at 5 am on the 04 March 1946.
Other information: He was a
very Cultured man and with a refined spirituality. He was a scholar of
the Islamic religion in 1937 he had funded The Association of “AM.OR.IS”
Amici Oriente Islamico – Friends of Eastern Muslims, even though he was
on Italian he was against fascism, in truth he had denounced the
occupying authority of fascism in Albania. Just because he was on
Italian, the communist regime held him as a co-operator with fascism.
As a director of the
seminary, they accused him together with Fr. Daniel Dajani, because they
were the leaders of the anti – communist movements founded by the
seminary Mark Çuni. But in the end Mark Çuni during the juridical
process admitted that he founded and spread leaflets, together with
others who were included in the association, shouting out he said. “ If
we are guilty, these two (Fr. Fausti and Fr. Dajani) have not a shadow
of guilt”.
Kol Dhimitri, who was the
defence attorney of Fr. Fausti and Fr. Dajani, during the indicted
process said to the Judges: “If you sentence these two priests (Fr.
Fausti and Fr. Dajani) you will add two martyrs to the catholic church
and hatred towards yourself”.
To the 17 year old Gjovalin
Zezai who was in prison with him in a moment of great suffering he said:
“Son, we have to endure and forgive, because Christ has taught us to
forgive those who have done wrong to us”. While they were taking him to
be executed together with others, praying he gave courage to himself and
others saying “ Let us go to Gods house”.
His last word were: “I am
please that I am dying while fulfilling my duty. Greet my Jesuit
brothers, deacons, priests and the Archbishop. Glory be to Christ the
King!” he was shot and killed outside the cemetery of Remaj in Shkodër
and there they abandoned him.
