He was ordained a priest in
the Cathedral of Shkodër on the 08 December 1961.
He studied at elementary
school and middle school in his own area.
He studied theology and
philosophy with the Archbishop Mons. Ernest Çoba, from whom he received
his priestly ordination.
He served in the Church of
Dajç of Bregut Bunës and of Barbullush until 22 February 1967, when the
Churches where closed down by communism.
He was arrested in Beltojë on
the………
He was imprisoned in Shkodër
on the 19 April 1973.
He was imprisoned to 7 years
in prison on the 06 August 1973.
He was shot and killed in
Shkodër on the 10 February 1974 (same one said he died 3 weeks after
his sentence).
Other information: seeing
that the Communist regime was so Powerful, at that time the situation
was getting worse. Since Father Michel was the youngest in his family.
His brothers tried to get him away from his vocation, but he was
determined and didn’t give in.
He was very zealous and after
the Church was closed down (1967) without Considering that it was
forbidden he carried on his priestly ministry in villages and in the
mountain.
To those who told him to be
careful because his life was in danger day and night he answered,
“Christ will protect me and God is God and Christ is the King’.
When they arrested him the
police placed him in front of the church door which by now was
transformed into a Cultural palace and forced the people to spit at him.
He was cruelly tortured, but
he bore it in a heroic way.
He was sentenced to 7 years
imprisonment but before the court (the Judges) he spoke against the
regime and the dictatorship of Enver Hoxha. For this there and then he
was condemned to be shot and killed. To silence him they stripped him
and pierced him with spears.
He was a heroic witness of
the Catholic faith and for this he is honoured by all those who had
known him.
