Imprisoned in Durrës on the 24 May 1947, he was condemned to 20 years
imprisonment in Durrës on the 24 December 1947. He died in prison in
Durrës. His Death was caused by ill-treatment, torture and bad
conditions on the 19 March 1949. An important note: He refused the
project to found the national church separated from Rome.
In prison among
other cruelties they forced him to carry the wheelbarrow with manure.
His body rests
in the Cathedral of Saint Lucy in Durrës.
